We were approached in 2015 by the new owners of The Mowbray Court Hotel, which had become run down over the years; it was rated a 2 star hotel at the time and in need of substantial repair and some TLC.

Our client had purchased the hotel and approached us to gut it from the top to the bottom. The aim of the client was to turn the run-down 2 star hotel into a 4 star hotel and they wanted us to help them achieve this goal.

Being a listed Victorian building in Earl’s Court, the new owners of the Mowbray Court Hotel were aiming to keep the character of the building and attract visitors of different genres including business users, tourist travellers and families – so the aesthetic appeal needed to be universal and finished to a high standard to leave a lasting impression.

Located near to Knightsbridge and a short walk to Kensington Palace, The Royal Albert Hall and Museums of South Kensington – and with Olympia London exhibition centre just a 15-minute walk away, this hotel has one of the most diverse selections of furnished rooms in Central London, consisting of 125 bedrooms, from single rooms of 100 ft² to welcoming family rooms of 185 ft².

All 125 bedrooms needed our complete Hotel Roomsets service from decorative wall cladding right through to furniture and upholstery. This included custom built wardrobes, closets, wall to wall mirrors, bespoke shelving and tasteful panelling to match the style of the building. Each bedroom has a private bathroom with a shower and feature exquisite tiling and all the modern amenities you would expect from a high-class hotel.

The project was due to be completed by early 2016 so it was all hands of deck from the moment the client contacted us in late 2015. We started by working on the reception area as this needed to be complete by the end of 2015 in a matter of xxx weeks, so the hotel owner could start advertising the hotel accommodation to potential customers as soon as possible.

To create the hotel reception we were given a set of renders and outline drawings to work from which allowed us to create manufacturing drawings, fully manufacture all items in the reception area and to complete the installation on site.

JD Interior Solutions

After discussions with the client who wanted to achieve a stylish lobby area and workspace, we used a wide range of high quality materials including Walnut veneered Birch ply which created a designed edge and Corian for the worktops, along with solid Oak for the tables and benches then Zinc for the centre table piece. High quality leather finishes were used on the seating areas and distinctive bespoke shelving was mounted on the walls.

We worked closely with the client to create a great value, high quality reception area for this hotel in Central London. Our interior design team worked tirelessly to create a finish that the client and its hotel guests have fallen in love with – and that will look as good as new for years to come due to the excellent level of workmanship and quality of the products we used.
